DJ/producer Avicii, whose worldwide smash “Wake Me Up” has gone #1 in 63 countries selling 1.7 million copies worldwide, has asked that his fans participate in revealing the artwork to his September 17th album debut TRUE, on PRMD/Island Records. Starting today, somewhere in his hometown of Stockholm, two giant speakers will be set up surrounding a big, black glass pane, behind which the cover art is hidden. Fans can use the hashtag #truereveal on Twitter to reveal a secret about their selves. The speakers will be playing a never before heard song from theTRUE album, and each tweet will raise the volume incrementally until the glass shatters and the art is revealed.
Fans will be able to interact throughout the process via the True Reveal site,http://www.thetruereveal.com/ tweeting and monitoring the process via a live stream while they contribute to pumping up the volume. Tweets will be projected on the glass screen to show that everything is happening in real time.
“Wake Me Up” from the two-time Grammy nominated superstar producer/DJ Avicii, aka Tim Bergling, retains the hallmarks of Avicii’s production in its driving beat, rousing arrangements and uplifting melodies. The song just hit U.S. pop radio last week and is one of the most added records in the country. It is #9 on the Soundscan Digital Song chart, #5 on iTunes Top 100 songs and has Soundscanned 450,000 copies in the U.S.
Avicii’s debut album TRUE was recorded in Los Angeles and Stockholm, where Avicii collaborated with an eclectic group of artists including Aloe Blacc, Michael Einziger from Incubus, blue grass singer Dan Tyminski, Nile Rodgers, Adam Lambert and the legendary Mac Davis. “This album really changed the way I think, the way I see music,” said Avicii. “I worked with all these people from different genres.
