Una de las cosas que más he disfrutado en la vida es viajar por el mundo y mi espíritu aventurero me llevó a conocer los Emiratos. Llegué a Dubai y, para ser sincera, al llegar al aeropuerto tuve cierto miedo de que no llegaran a recogerme.
Al ver a toda la gente cubierta, pensé: “Qué gran error cometí al llegar acá sola y sin conocer a nadie. ¿Qué hace una mujer sola en un país dominado por los hombres?” Pensé que odiaría Dubai, pero me encontré con algo totalmente diferente.
Al llegar a mi destino, vi que Dubai era una metrópoli moderna, con más de un 50% de su población compuesto por expatriados extranjeros de regiones asiáticas y occidentales. Las mujeres no necesitan usar pañuelos a la cabeza (a menos que vayan a visitar monumentos religiosos). La gente se viste casi como si estuviera en Miami, creo.
Y aquí viven tantos extranjeros que no fue nada difícil hacer amigos.
Tuve la bendición de formar un grupo de amigas viajeras con quienes descubrí todas las maravillas que ofrecen los otros seis Emiratos.
Dubai es divertido, futurista y un tanto exagerado en cuanto a lujo. Claro, es costoso, pero vale la pena, es un país árabe moderno que tiene tanto para ofrecer. Lo primero que quise hacer fue ir de safari por el desierto, y pude reservar una excursión por la tarde/noche con una empresa local. Tuve la oportunidad de montar un camello. La experiencia fue divertidísima, inolvidable.
Dubai es una ciudad que brinda muchas opciones de entretenimiento. He aquí una lista de algunas de mis actividades, que realicé sin problema incluso al ser una mujer que viajaba sola por Dubai.
El safari.

Dubai Mall – No te lo pierdas. Echa un vistazo a la estación de esquí en el centro comercial de los Emiratos.
Burj Khalifa.
Miracle Garden – Este jardín hace honor a su nombre; es como un milagro. Nunca vi tantas flores frescas en un solo lugar.
Un paseo por Dubai Marina es excelente. Camina, o puedes rentar una bicicleta y disfrutar de un día soleado.

Palm Jumeirah.
Una advertencia: No es barato divertirse en Dubai. Sin embargo, pocos días son más que suficientes para probar un poco de todo lo que este sitio ofrece.
El transporte público es excelente y fácil de usar. Lo llegué a conocer como la palma de mi mano. He ido tres veces a Dubai y volveré.

One of the things I’ve enjoyed the most in my life is traveling the world, and my adventurous spirit led me to discover the Emirates. I arrived in Dubai and, to be honest, once I got to the airport I was somewhat afraid that no one would come and pick me up.
When I saw all the people were covered up, I thought: “I made such a huge mistake in coming here all by myself, without knowing anyone. What is a solo female doing in a country dominated by men?” I thought I would hate Dubai, but I found something entirely different.
When I reached my destination, I saw that Dubai was a modern metropolis, with over 50% of its population made up of foreign ex-pats from Asian and Western regions. Women do not need to cover their head (unless they are going to visit religious monuments). People almost dress as if they were in Miami, I think.
And so many foreigners are living here, that making friends was not hard at all. I was blessed enough to form a group of girlfriends that liked to travel, with whom I discovered all the wonders that the other six Emirates have to offer.
Dubai is fun, futuristic and somewhat over- the- top when it comes to luxury. Of course, it’s expensive, but it’s worth it, it’s a modern Arab country that has so much to offer. The first thing I wanted to do was go on a safari through the desert, and I was able to book an afternoon/evening excursion with a local company. I had the chance to ride a camel. The experience was so much fun, unforgettable.
Dubai is a city that offers many entertainment options. This is a list of some of the activities I carried out without any issues, even though I was a woman traveling solo through Dubai.
• The safari.
• A day trip through Sharjah.
• Dubai Mall – A must-see. Check out the ski station within the Emirates’ shopping mall.
• Burj Khalifa.
• Miracle Garden – This garden lives up to its name; it’s like a miracle. I’ve never seen so many fresh flowers in one single place.
• A stroll through the Dubai Marina is excellent. You can either walk or rent a bike, and enjoy a sunny day.
• Burj Al-Arab, where you can enjoy a cocktail in luxurious environment.
• Bur Dubai, the “historic” part of Dubai.
• Palm Jumeirah.
A word of warning: Having fun in Dubai is not cheap. However, a few days are more than enough to try a little bit of everything this place offers.
Public transportation is excellent and easy to use. I got to know it like the palm of my hand. I’ve been to Dubai three times and I will go back.
