Inspiring Documentary ¨The Paw Project” Opens in Los Angeles, October 18 at Monica 4

LOS ANGELES– Tugg, Inc. and the Paw Project organization have partnered to make `The Paw Project´ available to screen nationwide through Tugg.com. The documentary will make its Tugg premiere in Bethesda, MD  on October 17, 2013, 7:30pm at the Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema and its theatrical premiere in Los Angeles, CA on October 18, 2013 at the Santa Monica 4.

The Paw Project is an inspiring documentary that follows the David and Goliath story of a grassroots movement to protect felines, both large and small, from the cruelty of declawing and how the movement has prevailed despite the efforts of well-funded professional veterinary associations. The film takes us inside the issue of declawing and chronicles the happy and unexpected twist of fate that led to the protection of many animals through the grassroots advocacy efforts.

Cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy (Animal Planet’s “My Cat From Hell’) is featured in the film and sheds light on how declawing affects cats.

“I’ve worked with thousands and thousands of cats, one on one, over the course of many years,” says Galaxy. “ When I go into a home and meet a cat, and that cat’s declawed – I know immediately. There’s an emotional deficiency there. They’re something different about them. They’re not as apt to play – they’re just not as much a cat.”

Dr. Conrad founded a non-profit organization, The Paw Project, to lead the movement against declawing. It is her goal to stop declawing in the US, and eventually put her non-profit organization out of business. Conrad made the documentary in the hopes to educate the public about this hot-button issue.

“I had to reach wider audiences, with this new tool that uncovered truths about declawing. That’s when I decided to make the film” says Conrad. “When people watch this film I want them to walk out of that theater feeling inspired that they can help end this horrible practice. I want them to feel motivated and capable.”

The partnership with Tugg will allow the public to bring the film to their local theater, and hopefully start ignite the campaign to stop declawing in their cities.

“The Paw Project is excited about our partnership with Tugg and hope this will raise awareness and shed light on the debilitating effects of the declawing process,” says Dr. Jennifer Conrad.“If it helped the cat in any way, I would not be fighting like this. Our ultimate goal is to end declawing once and for all.”

Since the campaign launch, audiences have been able to secure THE PAW PROJECT screenings via Tugg on October 22in St. Louis Park, MN, October 24 in Fort Collins, CO and in other select cities nationwide throughout October and November.
