ALEGRIA Magazine, the leading Bilingual magazine for the Hispanic market in Southern California, will launch its Summer Edition this August 6th at Fuego Lounge in Downtown Los Angeles. This event will support Amanecer.org to bring awareness to their cause.
The Summer Edition will feature rising Hollywood and Latina actress Zulay Henao as well as Fernanda Romero, a bona fide star in her home country, Mexico.
Zulay Henao is a Colombian-American, film and television actress. She co-starred in a number of films such as Illegal Tender (2007), Fighting (2009), Takers (2010), Boy Wonder (2011) and The Single Moms’ Club (2014). In 2014 she began starring as one of the lead characters in the Oprah Winfrey Network series, If Loving You Is Wrong.
Her acting resume grew quickly with roles alongside some of Hollywood’s leading men: Channing Tatum, Idris Elba, T.I. and the late Paul Walker. Zulay’s television debut came in 2000 when she landed a role on Law & Order. Zulay has worked with Tyler Perry on several of his projects including Love Thy Neighbor and Single Moms’ Club.
Fernanda Romero (born María Fernanda Romero Martínez in Mexico City is a Mexican actress, model and singer. She is most noted for her starring role in the Mexican telenovela Eternamente Tuya and for her supporting role in the American film The Eye.
The film that took her career to the next level was The Eye with Jessica Alba. This opened the door for her in Hollywood and led her to be cast in big budget films like The Burning Plain opposite Charlize Theron, Drag Me to Hell from director Sam Raimi, Red Canvas with Maria Conchita Alonso, Once Fallen with Ed Harris and Without Men opposite Eva Longoria and Christian Slater. In 2009 Fernanda participated in her first telenovela in Mexico, playing the female lead in Eternamente Tuya (TV Azteca). In the spring of 2011 she starred in the first bilingual series on American television, RPM Miami, a Telemundo Studios production that aired on NBC’s channel, mun2.
Other films include El Fantastico Mundo de Juan Orol, based on the life of cinematographer Juan Orol, in which she plays Dinorah Judith, Orol’s third wife., Pendejo with Danny Trejo, Number Runner, her first British production, with Jon-Paul Gates, and Fighter’s Chance with the former boxer Evander Holyfield.
Next up for Fernanda will be Broken Doll opposite Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Christian Serratos, of Twilight fame, directed by Trudy Sargent. Fernanda also has a successful modeling career and recently did a campaign for Spanish brand MANGO, for their campaign WhatShouldIWearByMango.com, as well as starred in music videos for “Just One Breath” by Jeremy Carr and “Gente VIP” for singer Larry Hernandez.
GLAMSQUAD will be in charge of media influencers prior to the event and VersaSwimwear will feature its new collection as shown in LA fashion Week.
